Killie keeper Combe pulled off a series of outstanding saves, including a triple stop from Dean Shiels and a stunning one-handed parry from Chris Hogg's header, as Killie won 1-0 at Easter Road.
Combe even set up Colin Nish's goal when his long kick was misjudged by Rob Jones as the Ayrshire men moved above Hibs into fifth place in the SPL.
It was a sweet afternoon for the former Bradford player after he was on the end of a freak goal just seven days ago when his throw out bounced off the back of Dons striker Darren Mackie's head and looped into the net.
Jefferies said: "We rode our luck because Combe - who made a mistake last week - was just unbelievable. You could see his quality.
"He took stick last week but we never gave him stick because he made two fantastic saves in that game".
"You can count on one hand in the three years he has been here how many mistakes he has made."
The Killie boss was delighted with his side's display after bringing youngsters Willie Gibson, Ryan O'Leary and Jamie Hamill into the side.
He added: "We were well organised and for a team missing so many players we were just fantastic, we competed so well.
"We are delighted with the application of the players because last week we didn't get that. We rolled up our sleeves and got the points.
"I felt these boys were ready because they have been playing well in the reserves.
"I thought with no pressure on them we can put them out there in a real tough place so that next year when I need them we know they can cope. And they can put other players under pressure."
