The fans have been asking for this happen for some time now and tonight it was announced that fans favourite, Kilmarnock forward Connor Sammon has opened talks with the Kilmarnock Football Club board over a new contract at the Rugby Park side.
The club initially signed him on a three year deal with a possible a year extension however Connor has been literally setting the pitch alright since Mixu Paatelainen came to the club. Sammon has scored goals in just about every game he has started in, with his most recent being in the 2-0 win against Aberdeen.
The 24 year old told BBC Scotland's Reporting Scotland that he has settled in at the club and is enjoying his time at Kilmarnock, so he'll keep scoring the goals and just see where he ends up next. Connor Sammon is the SPL's 2nd top goal scorer which is fantastic news, as Killie have not had a top scorer in the SPL for a good number of years.
The fans are hoping the club can hold onto the Irishman as he has been a serious key player in the club's starting XI. In addition he has helped them enter the Scottish Premier League's top six, where Killie have not been for the last four seasons if not more.
Fingers crossed!
