The new season will soon be upon us before we know it and even though it seems a long time before it actually starts, we can at least be confident in knowing that our first game of the new season will be at home. To "Club 12" to be frank but who will club 12 turn out to be. It currently represents Rangers who are set for liquidation soon or depending on which way the SPL vote goes, it would represent the club coming up from Division 1.
Club chairman Michael Johnston has said that the other SPL clubs, would incurr severe financial losses if the Ibrox club are voted out of the SPL. In contrast however,a number of other chairmen suggest that sporting integrity is crucial and more important than the financial side of Rangers remaining in the SPL. The Killie fans had a recent poll on whether they would want the Gers Newco in the SPL and over 80% said no.
Three SPL chairmen have already made it clear, that they will be voting no to the Gers Newco, so should another two of more vote the same way, it paves the way for Rangers having to apply for Division 3 therefore allowing another team from Division entry into the SPL.
So will it be Rangers or a Division 1 side that will be revealed as the twelveth club?
