So far it seems that the recent severe weather conditions have definitely taken it's toll again on the weekend's fixtures. We have already had our away trip to Fir Park cancelled and now added to that is our away game to the East End of Glasgow.
The question surely now has to be asked: is a winter break now more likely? SPL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster was asked that very question in a television interview, and he stated that it would not be ideal for a league like the SPL. Doncaster did say however that he would be in a meeting with representatives from all twelve Scottish Premier League clubs to discuss a slight change in the football calender.
Another question that has to be asked is how many more fixtures will be affected by the wintry weather? Forecasters have predicted that the bad weather could be with us until Christmas, which is not what clubs like Kilmarnock are wanting as the call-offs mean that smaller clubs in the SPL lose vital revenue. So we'll just have to wait and see what the weather brings and take it as it comes.
