Before even a ball was kicked the statistics in recent games did not look good at all for Ayrshire's Finest. Against the team from the City of Discovery, they showed two draws and two losses, so a win would have been the ideal start to making these statistics look a bit better.
From the off the Tangerine's David Goodwillie tried a amitious attempt to shoot almost from the centre circle, but thankfully Cameron Bell was alert to save it. In quick succession right back Fraser Wright scored a goal coming in from an Eremenko corner, amongst a bit of crowd at the Dundee Utd's net, however the goal did not stand due to a foul on Gary Kenneth by Connor Sammon in the run up to goal. A free kick was then given.
It wasn't long before the opening goal came from a Sissoko pass from the back and a Mehdi T linkup to Connor Sammon from the midfield. Sammon came forward but came up against Gary Kenneth whom he passed with ease and shot in the ball into the net.
Less a minute later Johnny Russell scored the equaliser thanks a bit of slackness from the Killie defence. A chance for the visitors came shortly after thanks to a Bryson and Sammon link up but the Tangerine defence saved the shot. More shots from both sides came but those went wide or hit the side netting.
Johnny Russell had another shot but this time it was saved by Cameron Bell. Eremenko also had a shot but was deflected wide of the net. Pascali made an attempt from a free kick but it went over the bar. Dundee Utd then came on the counter attack and John Daly shot was saved by the Killie keeper.
Full time score: Dundee Utd 1-1 Kilmarnock.
